- What are some of the best and worst gifts you have received on Valentine’s Day? When you receive something you don’t particularly like, do you let the giver know? If so, how?

Seeing as how I have had very few Valentine’s Days with a special someone in my 21 years, I have very little gifts to compare for this topic. I do, however, always receive gifts from my family members. Despite the fact that it it somewhat embarassing, I often enjoy what I am given. Chocolate is always awesome no matter the reason. I will never deny the gift of chocolate. Cards always seem to be the last minute go-to thing, but I honestly despise cards. The only time that I appreciate them is if money is included; otherwise, they are useless in my opinion. I would never tell someone that I didn’t like their card. I simply manage to smile and thank them, despite my loathing of such a holiday.

Yes, I am a Valentine scrooge. 

- From a public relations standpoint, if you worked for a greeting card company, florist or chocolate manufacturer, how would you persuade the public to buy from you rather than your competition?

If I was unfortunate enough to work for a company that thrives on Valentine’s Day, I would include an added bonus for the customer with each purchase. For example if I worked for a florist manufacturer, I would not only deliver the flowers in a vase to the customer’s loved one, I would also include something like a teddy bear that delivered a recorded message when you squeeze its heart shaped belly for free of charge. It is a technological advance that adds a competitive advantage as well as a mushy effect that those people love.

The one thing that drives me absolutely INSANE is when girls try to dumb themselves down to act ditsy and use baby-talk. It is perfectly acceptable for certain people, who lack the intellectual capacity of a walnut, to act in such a manner. However, if there is someone putting on a show and acting as if there’s nothing going on in the ole cabeza… well, that’s just sad.

A great example of this would be any recent Playboy bunny or “girlfriend” of Hugh Hefner within the past 2 years. Although the show The Girls Next Door was somewhat entertaining, all I could say was, “bless their hearts.” These fresh out of high school, wide-eyed, peroxide soaked blondes could have been anything in the whole world; Yet, they chose to be an idiot for a living and actually get paid for it! I’ve got to hand it to them, it is easy money, but being ‘cute’ can only last so long.

Therefore, if you fit this profile of the Crystal Harris (Hugh Hefner’s runaway fiance) prototype… I advise you to do our nation a grand favor and not open your basic vocabulary (at best) flowing mouth.

When I hear that a new movie is coming out based on a book or, better yet, a series of books I make it a personal goal of mine to read the book[s] before going to see the movie. However, with all of the recent book based movies, the book has proven to be the better of the two. For some reason I could never get into the Harry Potter series. Even the movies did not particularly interest me. When the Twilight series came out I managed to read the books within a few days. I was elated with the first movie of the series, but after that, the quality of the movies have gone down hill. This last movie released, Breaking Dawn, was a tremendous let down when compared to the book. The movie failed to meet my high expectations with an almost ‘Disney’ approach to what was supposed to be a tragic love story.

My absolute favorite book to movie adaptation has always been Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Although the movie is considered to be quite the chick flick, I loved it when it came out around the time that I was twelve years old. I bought the book after seeing the movie and ended up loving the story even more through the book.

When it comes down to the question: “book or movie?” I say it depends. In some cases one version is better than the other, but the best way to figure which of the two is best is simply to experience them both.

As far as updating goes, I will most likely not continue to update this particular blog. Although, I can see myself maintaining a blog pertaining to my career path in the future. The main thing that I enjoyed about having to have a blog is the challenge to write according to a topic that I did not choose myself. Most of my writing experiences in the past have consisted of creative writing, so adding structure and boundaries was an effective way to strengthen my writing techniques.

Working in the corporate world (which is what I plan on doing some day) requires connection through social media, more commonly through blogging. Having knowledge of the corporate blogging world will benefit me when the day that I enter a corporation arrives. The only thing that I fear from blogging is becoming obsessed, like many social networkers do these days. All in all, my blogging experience has been a positive one, so it can only help to broaden my future career through social media knowledge.
